ok, 2nd attempt at talking about my parents' neighborhood.

i want my family to move. or at least to be a lot more careful and alert. the security in that area is going downhill really fast, and its never been that safe to begin with.

2 weeks into our stay when we first moved there about 5 years ago, my car got broken into. granted, it was my fault. i left the bag with my portable cd player on the passenger seat for everyone to see. i guess the temptation was really strong, considering that the car was parked right outside our bedroom window. some idiot smashed the driver side window and made off with the bag. well, said idiot must be kicking himself right after because he dropped the cd player and made off with only 2 cds. i doubt he would've enjoyed my boyzone and valentine: movie soundtrack. harhar.

about a year or so later, as my mom was walking home from the liquor store, a guy grabs her purse, jumps into a toyota tacoma and drives off. my mom was just around the corner from our house, so she hurries home and starts calling all her bank cards. within 15 minutes, a charge was being made at a shell station a few blocks away. we never did find out if they got caught. i'm just glad my mom wasn't hurt.

since then, my dad's car has been burgled twice and they had to call the cops on the crazy white guy that lived across from our unit when he started threatening my dad. apparently he hadn't been taking his medication, so now he's been taken back to some hospice or mental hospital.

on thursday, i got a call from kristine who got worried about our 2 younger siblings. i guess a couple of helicopters were flying over the westminster hs and when she passed by, there were quite a few cop cars in the parking lot. she wanted me to look online if i can find out what was going on. i couldn't find anything, so we just let it go. she calls me a couple of hours later to let me know not to worry because it was "just a bomb threat". wtf?! not worry? are you kidding me? our younger siblings and a cousin go to that school!

and then this saturday, there's been a shooting in the complex. the whole place is now a crime scene. the guy that lives 4 houses down was shot by the cops after he shot a relative who was helping his mom move. i guess he didn't want her to leave so he pulled out his gun. someone called the cops, but the guy wouldn't drop the gun so they had to shoot him. funny enough, nobody in my parents' house knew what was going on. my mom thought fireworks were going off at the highschool (like at a football game or something) and my sister, klarisse, was asleep. my brother was probably playing video games. check out this la times article and kristine's blog for more info.

so yeah... its too bad too, because the location of the house is very good. its walking distance from the grocery, gas station, movie theatres, numerous restaurants and fast food places, the church, the mall, the park, and the hs, jr high and elementary school. not to mention that its right between the 405 and 22 fwys and that the bus passes right by it.

i hope nothing else happens. or i'm definitely insisting that they move.
