  • book: stephen king . black house
  • music: johann strauss . blue danube

for some reason, i absently started humming the blue danube. i'm just glad it wasn't the wedding march, else the bf (who's sitting right behind me) would freak out. heh.

i've done that before though.

they're opening a couple of new positions at work. box office supervisor and ticketing functional support. both are higher pay. salaried, though, which means on the times that the position requires overtime, you won't get paid for it. it seems appealing, but i can't leave norm. he'd just die if i did. plus, i'm kinda happy where i am now. i have more responsibility, but without the liability of being a supervisor. i have admin hours, with weekends off. and overtime pay when needed. and 8 months out of the year, i'm pretty much doing nothing. come season renewal time though, it gets crazy hectic. but i can deal with that.

plus, i don't want to seem greedy. i'm already full-time with benefits and getting paid enough to live by. i don't need more. maybe later on, i'll look into moving up, but not right now.

dodgers lost. they put up a good fight, though, and were very gracious in their loss. i'm so proud. we're gonna try again next season, just you wait.

we? yikes! i've become a dodger fan. its all shawn green's fault. (he's so cute!)

went bowling for the 2nd time in my life on saturday. it was our last get-together with liz until she gets back from iraq. its hard to believe that this tiny woman (she's 4'11") is in the army reserves. she's got the personality for it though. she's smart, courageous, strong and independent, with a dry, sarcastic, deadpan sense of humor. i will include her and her family in my prayers.

anyway, thanks to wendy's great event planning, we had a pretty good turnout. not a lot of ppl went, mind you, but we had a lot of fun. i dragged joes, bert, and jean along. jenny showed up with her kids, sebastian and madison. (they're adorable. she's doing such a good job raising her kids.) rich was there for a bit. jenn s, carlos, kristine, joe o, and kelly were there, too. we even managed to convince solomon to show up. we bowled for about 2 hours, where i did pretty badly. and then moved into the bar for karaoke.

dude, carlos has a set of pipes on him. we made him go up 3 times. and wendy did a little number too. everyone else was content to just watch. you just can't get me drunk enough to go up and sing. hehe. the only thing that marred the experience were the obnoxious drunks in the back that kept going up to the front to sing and dance. and badly i might add. wait your turn, ppl! sheesh. patience baluga.

anyway, good times, good times.

i tried to convince jean to work at the center for the lion king on sale. it pays well, $15/hr. just so we can say she's worked there too. after all, all of her current roommates work there (i.e. joes, bert, and me) and her bf has worked there too. its too late for ro, but we can still get her in there. hehe. i think its a good idea. the thing is, its the week of her (and bert's) bday. i doubt it'll happen.

friday, the 8th, was lee national denim day. its the largest single-day fundraiser for breast cancer research. and since breast cancer awareness is a topic near and dear to me, i signed up to organize it for the center. pretty much all that is needed is a $5 donation and for employees to wear jeans. a bunch of ppl from development, who are required to wear business attire at all times, were given permission by their head guy to wear jeans. as long as they donate the $5 and show proof (i.e. receipt, which i've provided) that they did. i did pretty well, despite being a first time organizer. until next year!

i'm looking at my empty wallet and glancing through my check register. dismal. only 4 more days 'til pay day.
